buy tetracycline 500mg UK This journey through the Scottish Highlands and islands is designed for travellers interested in writing and the natural world.

buy metronidazole in Mersin Turkey Dr Inga Simpson (author of Understory, Nest, http://www.faeganspub.com/?f=buy-tetracycline-250mg-UK Mr Wigg, and cipro price 250mg Where the Trees Were) teams up with archaeologist and expert tour leader, Dr Christopher Carter (of Time Travel Australia) to offer a unique combination of travel and retreat, walking and writing — an immersion in some of the world’s most stunning landscapes, and rich natural, human and literary histories.

https://nepomak.org/?n=buy-ciprofloxacin-in-Hannover-Germany We’ll explore the wildest landscapes of Scotland: the Trossachs and Cairngorms national parks, the Isle of Skye, and the islands of Harris & Lewis. And, if you choose the optional archeological adventure, magical Orkney and Shetland.

buying ciprofloxacin 750mg Along the way, you’ll learn how to capture what you see and experience on the page, through a series of practical workshops, and one-on-one feedback from Inga.

For those continuing on to Orkney and Shetland, you’ll have also the chance to apply what you have learned, developing a polished piece based on your journey for feedback.

We’ll meet in Edinburgh, UNESCO City of Literature, during festival season, retracing the steps of Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson to take in the city’s highlights, including Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, and the Royal Mile. For those interested, there is also the option of attending the National Book Festival.

Then we’ll head inland, to the Trossachs, the picturesque landscapes that have inspired many writers and artists, including Scott, Wordsworth, & Coleridge. We’ll walk Loch Katrine – one of the settings in Stevenson’s Kidnapped, hiding place of outlaw Rob Roy, and the inspiration for Scott’s “Lady of the Lake”. We’ll also stroll through remnants of the Great Wood of Caledon, visit some of the region’s historical highlights, and taste its best local whiskeys and gins.

Then we’re off to Cairngorms, subject of Nan Shepherd’s classic, The Living Mountain. Cairngorms National Park is the largest in the UK, containing its highest mountains and many rare and endangered species, including: highland tigers, golden eagles, capercaillies, water voles, ptarmigan’s and pine martens.

Next we cross the water to the Isle of Skye, famous for its spectacular scenery, wildlife and history. We’ll stay in charming Portree, and day-trip highlights include: the Flodigary fossils, Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegen Castle, and up close experience with seals.

On atmospheric Harris and Lewis we’ll visit neolithic sites, including Callanish Standing Stones and the Trussel Stone, and see where the mysterious Lewis Chessmen were found.

Then we head north, up to John O’ Groats, to take the spectacular coastal walk to the Rock Stacks of Duncansby, complete with nesting sea birds and curious seals.

For those continuing on to Orkney, Christopher will guide you through some of the best-known neolithic ruins, Skara Brae and the Ness of Brodgar on Mainland. We’ll also venture further afield to the islands of Hoy, Rousay and Westray, visiting a range of sites and spectacular landscapes. The islands are also rich in birdlife, with the sea a constant and powerful presence.

Shetland, the northernmost part of Scotland, is even more remote, and more magical, containing a broad range of prehistoric ruins. It is here that you we will have the opportunity to participate in a real archaeological dig!

Throughout both legs of the tour, we’ll stay in historic buildings in beautiful natural settings.

During the first leg of the tour, Christopher will offer alternate activities for non-writing partners, including: historical & archaeological excursions, wildlife photography workshops, fly fishing lessons, and whiskey/gin tastings.

Writing workshops

The writing workshops are suitable for writers at all levels, whether interested in nature writing, travel writing, memoir, fiction, blog-writing, short pieces or book-length projects. The workshop content will be tailored to suit the interests and skills of participants.

Our time spent immersed in the Trossachs, Cairngorms, Isle of Skye and Harris will include daily writing workshops, exploring a range of techniques for writing about place, in combination with plot and character. The workshops utilise a mixture of tuition, examples 9often from works set in those places we will be visiting), practical writing exercises and group discussion.

You’ll also have the opportunity to receive written and verbal feedback from Inga on up to 5000 words submitted beforehand. And, if travelling on to Orkney and Shetland, you’ll have the chance to apply what you have learned, developing a personal piece about your journey to submit to Inga for feedback.
