“Good nature-literature, like all literature, is more lived than written” ~ Dallas Lore Sharp.
Olvar Wood runs nature writing retreats in several beautiful locations each year, led by Dr Inga Simpson. It’s a great way to spend time immersed in place – and your writing – to hone your skills at capturing the natural world on the page.
Coming up: Our annual Shallow Crossing Nature Writing Retreat 17- 23 October 2016.
In August 2017 we’ll be walking and writing the wilds of Scotland, exploring literary Edinburgh, the Trossachs and Cairngorms national parks, and the Isle of Skye, before heading up to the Orkneys.
Our retreats are tailored to suit participants, and suitable for writers at all stages (fiction or nonfiction) interested in better evoking landscapes, flora and fauna on the page, and utilising the natural world not only as setting but the anchor for character, plot and structure. Whether journaling or blogging, travel writing, planning a novel, or completing a work of creative non-fiction – you’ll find a retreat an enriching experience.
For more information, to express an interest in any of the above retreats, or join our mailing list, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
Olvar Wood can also organise a writing retreat for your group, or help find a tutor for your upcoming retreat.
