write yourself into the landscape

Spend time immersed in place and hone your skills to capture the natural world on the page with Inga Simpson.

Olvar Wood runs nature writing retreats in several beautiful locations each year. It’s a great way to enrich your travel – and your writing. Click on each of the links below for more information.

9-17 March 2016: in cahoots with Time Travel Australia, we’re offering a week-long retreat on Kangaroo Island

Our annual Shallow Crossing Nature Writing Retreat at ‘The Escape’, on the far south coast of NSW, will run again in October 2016.

Coming soon: writing retreats in Port Macquarie, Lamington National Park, Borneo, the UK, and Peru.

Good nature-literature, like all literature, is more lived than written ~ Dallas Lore Sharp.

Our retreats are tailored to suit participants, and suitable for writers at all stages (fiction or nonfiction) interested in better evoking landscapes, flora and fauna on the page, and utilising the natural world not only as setting but the anchor for character, plot and structure. Whether journaling or blogging, travel writing, planning a novel, or completing a work of creative non-fiction – you’ll find a retreat an enriching experience.

Olvar Wood can also organise a writing retreat for your group, or help find a tutor for your upcoming retreat.
