2009 Outcomes

In 2009 we welcomed four exciting new writers to Olvar Wood. Of those four writers, Paul Garrety and Felicity Castagna now have books under contract. A third member of the group has his book currently under consideration.

"I just wanted to let you know that I've signed a contract with Transit Lounge for the publication of my short story collection. Thanks so much for all your help." (Felicity Castagna)

"My BIG news is that THE contract has arrived from Harper Collins-Voyager. It’s for a two book deal based on the one I originally subbed and the follow-on." (Paul Garrety)

2010 Award Results

We're delighted to announce the results of the 2010 Olvar Wood Fellowship Award. We received just over 80 entries across a diverse range of genres: young adult fiction, speculative fiction, historical works, poetry, memoir and contemporary realism. This year, we noticed a preponderance of lawyers, alcoholics and corrupt cops, and were delighted to read the true story behind Harold Holt's disappearance!

It was tough choosing ten works for the longlist, and even tougher narrowing the longlist down to four Fellowship recipients.

We'd like to congratulate each of the longlisted entrants for the quality of the work they submitted.
