This one day masterclass is an ideal opportunity for you to explore Olvar Wood Writers Retreat, and develop your short story skills. Join nike bourke - award-winning author and literary judge - in a masterclass designed to help you build on the skills you already have.
Through a hands-on, interactive masterclass, you will be guided through a range of ways to improve your short fiction skills. You'll learn how to identify weaknesses in your story and fix them; how to turn your good-enough story into a sparkling literary gem.
Each participant will be asked to submit a short story - up to 5000 words - two weeks before the masterclass.
Nike will read your story and provide individual, written feedback. Reading your stories will also help her pitch the masterclass to your particular needs.
You will receive a tuition package of materials to help you prepare for the masterclass by email. The tuition pack is a PDF.
WHAT's INCLUDEDThe short story masterclass includes all tuition materials (including writing exercises, publication and competition leads, and other resource material), detailed written and oral feedback on your short story, morning tea and lunch.WHENThe masterclass runs from 10:00am until 4:00pm on 18 July, 2010.WHEREOlvar Wood Writers Retreat is a beautiful 20-acre bushland retreat in the sunshine Coast hinterland - about an hour and a half drive north of Brisbane.
