At Olvar Wood we offer a range of workshops and masterclasses for those who want to spend a day honing their skills as a writer. Places in our day-long workshops and masterclasses are limited to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to gain meaningful feedback on their work and personal attention. Workshops
Workshops are designed for 15-20 participants, and include discussion, writing exercises, in-class feedback and loads of tips and tricks to help you develop your writing skills. Workshops are pitched towards beginners and writers who wish to refresh their understanding of fundamental aspects of the writing craft, or explore a new genre or form.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses are designed for smaller groups - up to 10 people - and include a mix of discussion, feedback, and writing exercises. Masterclasses are pitched towards more experienced writers, who want to dig a little deeper and/or who have a project they are seeking support in developing. Masterclasses include an opportunity for you to gain feedback on a short work (up to 5000 words prose/2 pages poetry), which you will be asked to submit prior to the masterclass. The feedback includes a written, two-page report and in-class discussion.
I've attended several workshops and masterclasses in the past ten years ... You are not only so highly qualified, you have the ability to impart your knowledge, and simplify things. I love the way you deal with people too. I've attended workshops where presenters have torn participants to shreds while they lectured. Olvar Wood deliver a range of workshops and masterclasses at venues throughout Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. There are currently no more places available in our 2010 program, but we will be launching our 2011 program later this year. Olvar Wood also provide 'Your Place' workshops and masterclasses. If you have a group of writers, and a suitable venue, we can come to you and deliver either one of our signature workshops, or a workshop designed specifically to meet your needs.
Rates
- Our Place Workshops: $90.00 per person
- Our Place Masterclasses: $110.00 per person
- Your Place Workshops (up to 20 participants): $800.00 plus travel expenses
- Your Place Masterclasses (up to 10 participants): $1000.00 plus travel expenses
QWC, ACTWC and NRWC members receive a 10% discount.
