Submission Details:

Our mission is to publish stories and poems that reflect the diversity of folk and fairy tales from around the world. We appreciate the collected works of the brothers Grimm, Perrault and Lang. However, we refuse to overlook the wealth of stories that have their origins elsewhere and prefer to publish works derived from less familiar cultures. Before submitting to CdF, we strongly suggest having a look at some of the free ebooks offered by SurLaLune to acquaint yourself with tales from India, Hungary, Japan, Russia, Portugal, Africa and more.

Our response time is usually four weeks. Please allow six weeks to pass before querying, as we often hold onto work for further consideration.

Please Note:

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to change or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but sometimes a market will die before we manage to update the listing! Just remember ...

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher on their website before submitting.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor/s would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, unless their guidelines state otherwise, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines.
  • Unless their guidelines state otherwise, don't query the status of a submission until at least three months have passed since you submitted.
  • Keep track of all your submissions!
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
